Our event took place in Caledonia, Ontario in conjunction with the Erie Shores Kennel Club’s all breed shows.

Our day started with the Sweepstakes judging. Kim Groves was the judge for this event and had 5 juveniles to look over. Her choice for Best In Sweepstakes was the Jr. Puppy male # 847 CR Ultimate Encore owned and shown by Cindy Hunt. Kim’s choice for Best Veteran was #845 Ch. KUMNC Myles of Birch Bark; RE, CD, DD, CGN, handled and owned by Sonya Birch.

American Judge, Mr. Bill Shelton, reviewed an entry 28 Leonberger’s. The judge made everyone feel very welcome in his ring. I couldn’t help but wonder what he must have been feeling with a ring full of owners showing their own dogs, and not a professional handler in sight. He did comment on the comradeship amongst us, everyone cheering, and clapping for each other. It is probably the first time in his judging career he heard a crowd yell, “run Forrest run” while having Anna-Marie Kristensen do a victory lap, with his winners ribbon blowing in the breeze. He actually had each winner do a victory lap with their ribbons flying. Leny Wagenaar-DeRuijter did a victory lap with Angel who was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners.

Best of Breed was awarded to Bludrift’s Champagne Taste of Diamonds “Champagne owned by Luanne Moede. An exceptional dog, Champagne had a fabulous weekend by earning her Canadian Championship and winning the Best In Show award on the Saturday over 470 other dogs. Wow!!!

Best of Opposite was Paddy’s Pamir vom Lowengarten “Cedric” owned and shown by Jan Gray. Cedric’s son (Heronviews Just Cruising) did well at the Regional Specialty, a proud moment for both Jan and Iivi Silaste, owner of Cedric’s mom Gch. Heronviews GoGo Dancer.

Winner’s Dog was awarded to Heronviews Hercules “Forrest” owned and shown by Anna-Marie Kristensen. I believe that Forrest is also a new champion.

Reserve Winners dog was awarded to CR Ultimate Encore “Rory” owned and handled by Cindy Hunt

Winners Bitch and Best of Winners went to Rosaceae Tecomaria “Angel”

Reserve Winners Bitch was awarded to CR Once Upon a Time “Maggie” owned by Cindy Hunt and shown by Jenn Stooke.

Select Bitch went to CR Pura Vida “Phoebe” owner Cindy Hunt

Select Dog was awarded to Ch. Myles of Birch Bark “Myles” owned and shown by Sonya Birch. Myles was also awarded the titles of Best Veteran as well as Best of Breed in Altered.
