LCC National Specialty 2013 Results

3The Leonberger Club of Canada’s First National Specialty Show.

The Leonberger has been recognized by the Canadian Kennel club since April of 1992.

It has been a long haul, with several ups and downs, but history was made Saturday June 15th 2013 when the first National Specialty for Leonbergers was held at Orono, Ontario in conjunction with the Ontario County Kennels Club all breed shows.

The credit goes to all of the Leonberger lovers, breeders and the families that share their homes with a Leonberger or two. A huge thank you to all for your generous donations of raffle items, your time and of course our beautiful dogs made the first specialty a huge success.

The weather was perfect, the location ideal for showing or watching. Lunch was excellent and provided by a local Girl Guides group. All the money collected was donated back to the Guides which they put towards their planned trip to England. They set the meal up ringside, served it and cleaned up afterwards. It doesn’t get any better than that!!

It was a pleasure to welcome Mrs. Cindy Koppen from British Columbia to judge the sweepstakes classes and also the Sieger Show. It was Cindy’s first assignment and she did very well and seemed to enjoy the day. Cindy has bred and owned Leos since 1996, having her first litter in 1998. Her knowledge of the breed came through as she went over the dogs and made her selections.
